Umm, yep!!! Intrepid Attitude City envoy David Shaw will be representing the enclave this Friday, July 25th on Sri Lanka’s impeccable Mount Lavinia Beach. A two weekend special relocation of Colombo bar Zanzibar, this engagement promises to be magical, to say the least. Beach = Dancefloor! Don’t hesitate; have your pilot set his compass to these south east asian co-ordinates:

Dip your ears in disco and feet in the Indian Ocean, then take advantage of the time change to have yourself in Minneapolis in time for our famed yacht party. Sounds nice. . .

Allow us to paint the scene. A starboard glimpse reveals the shimmering Minneapolis skyline. A glittering dome of fireworks and stars light the firmament above. Synthesizers and disco music pulse and swell with the gentle motion of the Mississippi river. You wipe a bead of perspiration from your forehead as your cocktail reaches your lips. Who’s that beautiful creature stealing glances of you from across the deck? One more drink and you’ll make your way across the dance floor to find out.
It’s YACHT CLUB 2008!!
Friends & Lovers-
We’re back again, bigger and better. It’s summer, it’s 2008, we booked a sexy new yacht, we leave from a convenient downtown Minneapolis dock, and we’re rocking later into the night. Bonus: We planned the cruise to coincide with the Aquatennial fireworks display on the Mississippi river. Don’t sleep, this will sell out quickly.
DETAILS:
SATURDAY JULY 26th - Boarding at 9:15PM
TICKETS: $30
Pre-boarding drinks: 7PM, Northeast Yacht Club
Featuring Attitude City DJs Karl Frankowski & Jeff Dubois
2008 Special Guest: Mike the 2600 King
With the shimmering Minneapolis skyline as our backdrop, our third-annual Yacht Club sets sail from Boom Island Park. Expect another inconceivable dance party of nautical proportions. This year we’ve outdone ourselves and secured the largest charter yacht in Minneapolis — a ninety-six foot pearl-white luxury vessel furnished with mahogany trim and pitch-black tinted windows. Fashion dress is strongly encouraged.
TICKETS:
Tickets go on sale today. The price is $30. There are two ways you can get your boarding pass.
Online: Email your full name and the number of tickets you would like to attitudecity@gmail.com. We will invoice you via paypal and once you complete the transaction your spot will be guaranteed. You will retrieve your tickets from our boat-side will-call the night of the cruise. There is an additional $1.50 fee per ticket for online transactions. This is by far the best way to ensure your spot on board.
In the flesh: Purchase tickets in person from one of our favorite local retailers. ROBOTLove and Cliché have limited supplies of tickets available now. And pick up some fly-ass gear while you’re there.
Check back here for updates as the date approaches.
See you portside!

Attitude City Montreal returns in collaboration with 7th Heaven (Toronto) to present a special leftfield disco night with Eric Duncan (NYC).
Eric D’s Still Going project (with Liv Spencer aka Manthraxx) released a 12 on DFA last year (”On and On”/ “Still Going Theme”) that garnered rave reviews across the globe and harkened a return to an anthemic piano house sound.
He is also notorious for being half of disco sleaze duo Rub n Tug (with Thomas Bullock of Map of Africa, and formerly ARE Weapons), arguably responsible for resuscitating NY’s ailing dance scene with their afterhours lockdown parties. The duo have churned out a host of ace remixes (LCD Soundsystem, !!!, Chicago, Low Motion Disco), and held residency in London’s massive club Fabric.
Forthcoming for Dr. Dunks is a 12″ on sought after underground label Whatever We Want and another Still Going EP for DFA …
We’re thrilled to again welcome local modern disco ambassador and organizer extraordinaire Why Alex, Why for a special set. Visuals will be lorded over by the one and only ocular jock Video Droid.
June 10th, 2008

On that most auspicious of dates Friday the 13th, Jupiter Room opens its doors to the dueling discotheque camps of Montreal’s Loose Joints & All-Rounder. Prepare for a four-on-the-floor electronic spectacle that will highlight all the hydra-headed sub-genres and bastard children of disco – from Italo to proto-house, from galactic inner space jams to silken electro-funk rhythms.
The All-Rounder is the Saturday residency at Korova, hosted by Jay Watts III (Baile Montreal) and featuring a rotating cast of guest DJs from across Montreal’s mirror-balled universe. By strange twists of fate, Jay has opened for Cut Copy, Cadence Weapon, Islands, and Broken Social Scene.
The Loose Joints audio crew is comprised of Attitude City members David Shaw and Davey Lähteenma, a duo who’ve honed their skills in parties across Montreal and the continent, starting as nearly-legal teen DJs in their home town of Thunder Bay. Now at the helm of the good space-ship Loose Joints, they combine a keen crate-digger’s knowledge of left-field disco history from Frisco to Rome with dance-floor alchemy. The LJ crew have brought legendary heads like DFA’s Hercules & Love Affair, Mike Simonetti, Dan Selzer and John Selway to Montreal while maintaining residencies and spinning at a variety clubs, leaving their mark on Tokyo, Le Social and Saphir, to name just a few. Loose Joints’ resident ocular rockstar Video Droid will be on hand to bend your rods and cones into fantastic shapes, manning all manner of analogue visual wizardry.
Long story short: really good music, great space, and amazing visuals that don’t involve looping clip art. 5 bucks.
