SirMixalot Edition MTL!
Join us for an epic event on Saturday, January 28, as Montreal’s Davey Lahteenmaaa, Chris Pare and David Shaw participate in the madness that is the Game of SirMixalot. Pioneered innumerable years ago and shrouded in occult mystery, the game challenges its participants to stealthily mix the most booty-worthy tracks from one participant to the next. Challenges are proposed and accepted, handicaps are imposed, and wildness ensues. Try it at home! Rules follow:
Any number of participants (though not recommended to exceed 5) take turns playing a pre-decided number of records, usually one to three. The challenge is to mix in one’s record as seamlessly as possible in the least amount of time, to ensure rotations are kept brisk. In the meantime, the other participants are responsible for:
A) eating animal crackers
B) ensuring that those who are not mixing records have full drinks.
The only drink to be consumed during said proceedings are Cuba Libres. Many refer to this drink as a glorified rum and coke, though true tasters will challenge the ingredients include a fine cola, dark Cuban rum, limeade, a dash of Angostura Bitters and a wedge of fresh lime over liberal measurements of crushed ice. The events ultimately amount to an inebriated, sweat-soaked festival of bizarre tracks and unmentionable behavior.
