Mark this Saturday, October 28th on your almanacs, as it represents the sprouting of Attitude City’s new CompactDisco nights at the otherwise predictable, albeit venerable, Tokyo2 Bar (2nd room). Catering to the expansive library of Montreal’s electronic disco past and repping a selection of contemporary sympathizers, 80’s, new wave, italo and cosmic rock are brought along for a road trip to the land of ass-quakery. The Saturday weekly looks forward to highlighting local/visiting guests and an opportunity to fill in a blank or two in the dense text of Montreal night life.

The Montreal Chapter of Attitude City strikes again this Thursday, October 26 as boombox-beat-boy Davey Lahteenmaa, aka Delphi, takes the tune-studded stage alongside Montreal record revolvers Dan Melon and Brad Slyde in a 4 turntable, 3 dj exhibition of electric funk. Spinning between 10pm and 1am at Saphir nightclub, ass shakers and music lovers can expect to taste a lip-smacking medley of disco, tech-house and breaks from the dark side of the mount.
This Saturday, October 21st, AC’s Montreal chapter teams with Plateau (auteurs of top-flight events and an established, cornea-blisteringly good clothing line) to bring you a special evening of rump roasting audio. David Shaw headlines MTL institution Blizzart’s Saturday night special, and has promised to singe hair and tweeters with a balance of disco and italo unmentionables more deadly to old folks than a raw egg covered in SARS. See you there!
This Saturday, October 21st, AC’s Minneapolis chapter will be rocking disco, funk, and soul at the King & I Thai – well, at least one half of the duo will be there. While Karl Frankowski is off kickin it at DFA shows in NYC, Jeff Dubois will be holding down the Minneapolis fort solo-style! Come buy a fortified rum cocktail, cozy up in a candlelit booth, and give him moral support.
This mix was initially compiled and donated to A Brooklyn Life Radio. The mix was very well-received at its new home and we felt that it would only be proper if we also shared its charm with you. As usual, you can expect another bounty of turntable panache that should assuage your ravenousness musical desires — at least until you check us out next in person! This mix features some influential yet atypical cuts that we found cowering in the dark cavernous depths of our record crates.
